🎓 GPA Calculator
GPA is a weighted average: each grade's point value multiplied by the course's credit hours, divided by total credits. A 4-credit A moves the needle twice as much as a 2-credit A — which is exactly why this calculator weights every course.
Enter up to six courses; rows with zero credits are ignored. The standard 4.0 scale is used (A=4.0 through F=0).
How to use this calculator
Select the grade and credit hours for up to six courses and the calculator returns your weighted GPA on the standard 4.0 scale, along with total credits and grade points.
- For Course 1, pick the grade from the dropdown and enter its credit hours.
- Repeat for Course 2 and any further courses you have; rows with zero credits are ignored.
- Confirm that plus and minus grades match your school's letter values shown in the list.
- Read your GPA from the hero line, with total credits and grade points below it.
Frequently asked questions
What does the GPA Calculator compute?
It computes a credit-weighted GPA from the grade and credit hours you enter for up to six courses. Grades are converted to points on the 4.0 scale, each course is weighted by its credits, and you also see total credits and total grade points.
What formula does it use?
The formula is the sum of grade points times credit hours, divided by the sum of credit hours. A 4-credit A contributes 16 points while a 2-credit A contributes 8, so heavier courses move the result more, exactly as real GPA calculations work.
Can you give a worked example?
Course 1: A (4.0) with 3 credits, Course 2: B+ (3.3) with 3 credits, Course 3: C (2.0) with 4 credits. Total points are 12 + 9.9 + 8 = 29.9 over 10 credits, giving a GPA of 2.99.
Does this match my school's official GPA?
It matches whenever your school uses the standard 4.0 scale with the listed plus/minus values. Schools that weight AP or honors courses differently, or use a 5.0 or 100-point scale, need an adjustment, so treat this as a close estimate and check your school's scale.
